Hunger does not knock before it enters. It slips silently into lives already struggling with illness, loneliness, and poverty. It hides in homes where children go to bed without dinner. It lingers in shelters where abandoned elders survive on just tea and dry biscuits. It walks beside stray animals searching garbage bins, hoping for a kind hand.
At ChildBaby Care Foundation, we do not treat food like charity. We treat it like medicine. Like dignity. Like survival.
That is why our Food and Hunger Relief Program doesn’t just deliver meals. It delivers hope. To those who have been forgotten by systems, and sometimes even by their own families.
Every month, we receive calls from hospitals, old age homes, and community caretakers. The stories are almost always the same a child admitted for cancer treatment has not eaten properly in days. An elderly widow living alone hasn’t had fresh food in a week. A puppy left behind by a roadside sleeps on an empty stomach.
Before we talk about healing, education, or recovery we must talk about food.
Because a hungry stomach can’t focus. A weak body can’t fight. And a neglected soul forgets how to hope.
That’s why we serve food first warm, real, regular food prepared with care and served with respect.
We support education through four core interventions:
We partner with old age homes and also identify elders living alone or in neglected conditions. Many are abandoned by families. Others simply have no income left. We deliver nutritious home-style meals that are easy to digest and keep them going with health and dignity.
For families whose children are undergoing long-term hospital treatment or for those who’ve lost employment due to health or crisis, we provide monthly ration kits. Each kit supports a family of 4 with rice, dal, flour, oil, basic masalas, and hygiene supplies.
Our team and volunteers feed stray dogs, cows, and birds regularly across identified routes. Many of these animals have lost access to their regular food sources due to urbanization or displacement. We provide cooked rice, rotis, grains, and clean water and, more importantly, human touch.
Here are just a few of the hundreds of children whose futures changed with one small act of support:
Living alone after her son moved away, she was found weak and unable to cook. We now send her two hot meals a day. She calls our delivery volunteer “beta” and waits at the door before lunch.
A 10-year-old boy feeding scraps to a limping street dog every evening. We now bring them both cooked food daily. The dog no longer limps. The boy now smiles.
Parents of a child in NICU slept hungry for two nights. We now send a tiffin to the hospital wing where families wait. No parent should face hunger while praying for their child’s life.
Hunger is simple to fight — if we all take part. You don’t need a big budget to sponsor a meal. You only need a heart that refuses to ignore.
₹50 feeds a hungry elder or patient’s family for one meal
₹250 covers a full day’s food for an old age home resident
₹500 supports one animal feeding route with rice, roti, and milk
₹1,000 feeds an entire family for a week
₹2,500 covers a monthly ration kit with grains, pulses, and oil
Whether it’s ₹50 or ₹5,000, every contribution is a plate filled, a hunger eased, and a little more humanity restored.
At ChildBaby Care Foundation, we believe hunger is universal and so must be our compassion. Stray animals are not someone else’s problem. They are ours too. A cow left starving in a dumping ground, a puppy with no one to feed it these are lives too. Lives that feel pain, hunger, and comfort.
That’s why we do not separate human relief and animal relief – we feed where hunger lives.
You don’t need to lift 50 plates. Just help us lift one.
